For the third year, the North Penn Water Authority (NPWA) participated in the Relay for Life event held on June 24-25 at the Penndale Middle School Track in Lansdale. The Relay is a 24 hour event, starting at noon Saturday and continuing overnight through noon Sunday.
NPWA team members raised $1,355 from family and friends they asked to sponsor them on the walk. Employees at NPWA also raised an additional $307 with raffles organized by the team’s captain, bringing the Authority’s total raised for the fight against cancer to $1,662. The event raised over $130,000 for community education, local patient support programs and cancer research.
The “Thirsting for a Cure” team included: Tony, Sharon, Juliana and Eric Bellitto, Walter Goff, Marlene McKenzie, Joyce Mountz, Gary Raser, Maryann Regan, Susan and Mike Sarnocinski, Bill Smith, Karen Sullivan, Denise Zirkel and team captain, Marianne Morgan.
