The North Branch Watershed Association held its ninth annual stream cleanup for the North Branch of the Neshaminy Creek on Saturday September 19, 2009. Twenty-five volunteers dedicated their Saturday morning to the clean-up effort this year. The project began at 10am and ran until shortly past noon. Volunteers met at the Creekside Inn on Route 202 in New Britain, and worked along the West Branch Neshaminy between Chalfont Borough Hall and Twin Streams Park and along the North Branch Neshaminy behind the Creekside Inn. Roughly 1 ton of trash and debris was removed from the stream thanks to these volunteers. Among the most unusual items found included a player piano, shopping cart and a rabbit hutch.

The North Branch of the Neshaminy creek is the headwaters of the entire Neshaminy Watershed and a source of drinking water for over 150,000 residents of Bucks County and Montgomery Township. By helping to keep the stream clean, NBWA is helping to keep the cost of water lower and is helping improve the entire length of Neshaminy Creek.
