Normally when we think of Customer Service we picture a representative on the other end of the telephone in an office far away answering inquiries. Certainly these representatives are an integral part of North Penn Water Authority. Answering a myriad of questions about your bill, your meter, your usage, your service line as well as dispatching service technicians to facilitate repairs if necessary.

In the past year North Penn Water Authority has instituted several options for our customers to make payment of their bill more convenient. Payments received at the Authority office, by mail and the Univest Bank are still the way most payments are received. The Authority now offers payment by Credit Card and Automatic Clearing House (ACH) options. The ACH allows the customer to automatically have their bill deducted from their bank account. Many of our customers who are away from home on business prefer using this system as it allows them the freedom to conduct their own business with one less bill to worry about.

The Information Systems Department has implemented a Work Order Management system that allows our Customer Service Representatives to access Customer Accounts, immediately review an account’s history, and prepare service requests and work orders to easily dispatch the proper technician best suited for the task to be rectified in the field. This system is linked to a Geographic Information System (GIS) that is also a helpful tool for our representatives and field technicians in finding valve locations, water pressures in specific areas, and many other pieces of information that are now a “Point and Click” away.

Customer Service has many faces here at North Penn Water Authority. In addition to the in-house Customer Service staff, it is the Water Quality and Systems Control personnel both here and at our Laboratory in Chalfont ensuring the water delivered to NPWA customers is safe and of high quality. It is the Meter Department employee who makes repairs to your meter and locates small leaks that directly affect your bill. It is the Distribution Department personnel who are out working in the snow and rain to repair water main breaks at 2:00 AM. It is the Financial Department watching expenses and finding new and more efficient ways to keep the cost down for our Customers. It is the Engineering Department always improving and upgrading our water system. It is the Administration and Public Relations Department answering calls from customers regarding water quality, making presentations at local schools to educate area children, and preparing quarterly newsletters to keep customers well informed.
